The Museu del Disseny has received the Norberto Chaves archive

The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona has received the donation of the Archives of the identity and corporate communications consultant, Norberto Chaves. This donation becomes part of the archive professionals Documentation Centre of the museum.

The collection is made up of documents generated by the activity as a consultant on corporate image and identity of Norberto Chaves throughout his career. However collects documentation produced from his work as a teacher and the preparation of many conferences, seminars and workshops that are taught, as well as generated by their participation in various juries awards related to the design. The donation contains documents dated between 1978 and 2013.

For example, we must mention his work as a consultant by the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Plan Promotion of Diseño y Moda between 1985 and 1991 and advising on institutional identity program promotion plan of Diseño Industrial and its management (DDI) in 1991. Also his work for the Metro de Madrid and Catalan Gas provides an interesting set of records. Regarding his work in Argentina, we can mention the design of the new corporate image of the supermarket chain Disco or the strategy for the YPF oil company or the Mendoza Bank.

Norberto Chaves (Buenos Aires, 1942) came to Barcelona in 1977 where he has resided since then, although their work has developed between Spain and Argentina. Chaves is a specialist in corporate image and advisory companies and institutions in strategies and programs of identity and communication. He has been professor of semiotics, communication theory and design theory at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Buenos Aires and the School of Art and Design Tool Barcelona. On the other hand has been a visiting professor of many universities and schools of design and architecture in Latin America and Spain.

Incorporating Norberto Chaves archive at the Documentation Centre of the Museu del Disseny will, when it has been cataloged, consulted by design professionals (designers, students, researchers) who want insight into the working of the most experienced professionals in the field of corporate image.

The Documentation Centre of Design Museum of Barcelona is a public space of consultation and specialized research in decorative arts and design. Its collections comes from the old museums libraries of Decorative Arts, the Museum of Ceramics, Textiles and Clothing Museum and the Cabinet of Graphic Arts of Barcelona. Other institutions that have integrated their libraries and archives in this center are the FAD (Fostering Arts and Design), ADG-FAD (Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers of the FAD), ADI-FAD (Association of Industrial Designers of FAD), BCD (Barcelona Design Centre), the Association for the Study of the furniture, the School of Advertising and Public Relations of Catalonia or the designers Yves Zimmermann and André Ricard.
